Testimonial

I was very worried about my first hypnotherapy session as I’ve never been to one before. Straightaway Mary put me at ease, she explained everything to me and I felt completely
comfortable with her.

The session was wonderfully relaxing and for the first time in a long time I felt there was hope that I could achieve my goal.

But these sessions gave me so much more, self-belief and strength to know that I could achieve even more than I ever thought possible.

I cannot thank Mary enough for the invaluable skills I now have, I feel I could conquer the world.

I would highly recommend this wonderful and kind hypnotherapist.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a change to a state of awareness and increased relaxation that allows for improving focus and concentration. I will use verbal repetition and mental images during hypnosis so that you will feel calm and relaxed.

Hypnosis typically makes people more open to suggestions about behavioural change.

It can help you gain control over unwanted behaviours or habits you would like to change.

It may also help you cope better with anxiety or pain. Although you are more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you do not lose control over your behaviour during the hypnosis session.

Conscious and unconscious mind

The conscious mind.

The conscious mind is the little voice in your head. This is the mind you actively think with all day long, it can only hold a handful of thoughts and ideas at one time. The conscious mind is the mind that we actively think with the one that chatters all day long.

The conscious mind will give you commentary, and sometimes it’s often very helpful, but sometimes it’s critical and harsh.

The unconscious mind

The unconscious mind contains all of your wisdom, memories and intelligence. It is your source of creativity. It regulates body, maintenance, and autonomic processes, like breathing blood circulation and tissue regeneration, it is the seat of your emotion and directs nearly all of your behaviours.

Everything that has ever happened to you, and everything that you’ve ever imagined is stored in a multisensory, recording in your unconscious mind.

You can use hypnosis to tap into your unconscious mind, and reveal details of incidents that happened many years before all of which are filed away somewhere.

The unconscious mind works by association. By looking at something and seeing the similarities with past events.

Of course, the word, conscious and unconscious are only models for the way your mind works and they’re your best and easiest way to explain the complicated structure of the human brain.
